Brett Richards

Brett Richards is our locally based fishing guide offering a wealth of experience to ensure you have a great day on the water.

Brett holds a life long passion for sport fishing, and his very earliest memory is not of a birthday, or of a Christmas morning – it’s actually of catching a small golden perch on some worms in Adelong Creek, a small tributary of the Murrumbidgee, near Gundagai in NSW!

Since that first fish, Brett has made many, many casts across a lot of water around Canberra and around much of Australia for almost all of our popular sport fishing species. Murray Cod and Golden Perch have always remained favourites over the years, and with a number of years of professional guiding experience now behind him, Brett is delighted to be able to offer guided fishing tours in the ACT region targeting these two iconic species.

Brett’s experience isn’t limited to Australia - he has fished further afield for exotic species such Peacock Bass in the Amazon, Bonefish and Large Mouth Bass in the United States, Brook Trout in Tierra del Fuego, Dogtooth Tuna in Vanuatu, and Black Bass in Papua New Guinea.

As president of the Professional Fishing Instructors and Guides Association, Brett holds all of the appropriate accreditations to provide guided fishing tours from our purpose built vessel, including a Coxswain’s Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and Working with Vulnerable People accreditation.

Brett’s wide-ranging experience has afforded an intuitive understanding of what constitutes a ‘quality’ sport fishing experience for anglers, and this experience, coupled with a genuine interest in sharing knowledge and promoting sustainable fishing, ensures that our anglers have a great time on the water with the best possible chance of success.
